DONATIONS & GIVING

Why support us?

Rise was opened in response to the systemic marginalization of women who need legal help and are unable to access it, for financial, geographic, or other reasons. The lack of access to family law services, and its disproportionate impact on women, is a gender equality issue.

In this video: Staff lawyer Vandana Sood providing reasons for why Rise services continue to be necessary.

Without Rise, women and gender diverse people in BC who can’t afford a private lawyer and who are not eligible for provincial Legal Aid are faced with the choice of trying to navigate the legal system by themselves.

When women cannot access legal services they may remain in violent relationships, lose parenting rights to their children, or forgo important economic entitlements like child support, spousal support and property division.

Your donations go a long way in ensuring we are providing services for our clients self navigating a very challenging family law system. In 2022, Rise helped 2172 clients through it’s various programs.
