Creating Safety in BC Courts: Key Challenges and Recommendations

Funded by the Law Foundation of BC, this report is a result of research undertaken between April 2021 and March 2022 by lead researcher Haley Hrymak. This research was undertaken to explore the possibility of modifying courthouses and court processes to make survivors less susceptible to violence by their abuser. Key informants were interviewed and 25 lawyers attending courthouses in smaller communities in BC were surveyed. This report details 25 recommendations for positive changes in courthouses in BC.
